Those who wish to understand the causes of this cataclysmic explosion of violence & implosion of rage must delve into Somali history from the late nineteenth century to the end of the twentieth century. This event offers an opportunity to debate, discuss and ask direct questions about the book and its challenging subject matter.

Yuu tuke baal caddi ka hadhin: a film from Hargeysa, 1988

Kayd Somali Arts and Culture in partnership with Somaliland Focus (UK) invite you to a screening of the documentary entitled “Yuu tuke baal caddi ka hadhin”. This will be the first time the film will be shown in the public. The documentary calls for a radical rethinking of what happened in Hargeysa in 1988, showing live military footage of action against innocent civilians in Hargeysa, with a full account from a survivor.Q&A session will immediately follow with the film’s subjects and film-maker
