Abwaan Maxamuud Maxamed Yassin

Mohamed Mohamud Yasiin “Dheeg” is a traditionalist poet, playwright, and songwriter, entertainer, politician, among other talents.

His literary production is acclaimed for its variety and combination of the serious poetic style conforming to tradition, and the modern song poem known for its vivid imagery, captivating appeal, and easiness.

Dheeg is a symbol of the older generation and its passion for poetry, but also an entertainer who appeals to the young urban youth.

He lives in Hargeysa, and is a member of the House of Elders of Somaliland, since 1992.
