Xasan Qawdhan

Hassan Qawdhan Yusuf is a renowned playwright and composer of contemporary music. In 1967 he composed his first song, which was sung by Maxamed Nuur Giriig and his first play entitled ‘Annagoo waalan, waagu noo beri’ (I’ll wake up crazy next morning). He has become an established Somali playwright and composer- composing songs for several renowned Somali artists such as Mohamed Mooge and Mohammed Salaban. Abwaan is also a conscientious figure, willing to challenge injustice and artistic censorship and was imprisoned for one of his plays.
